Happy Friday! We have had an AWESOME first week! Kicking It: Today your child received their first piece of math homework called Kicking It. It is the 3rd grade program for learning and memorizing math facts so that students will be able to use them with automaticity. Each child received a page protector, expo marker, and a copy of this week's math facts. They will receive a new set of math facts each Friday after we take the previous week's assessment. Students will have 3 minutes to complete all of the problems. The fact sheet should remain in the page protector at home and students can use the expo marker to practice writing the answers as many times as possible through the week. They should not take the page out and write directly on the paper. Please help your child by checking the facts and helping them with a timer so they can practice, practice, practice! Kicking It connects the passing of the timed tests to the passing of belts in karate. Each test that is passed

We had a great first day! It was so nice to get to know each and every student a little bit better today. I am looking forward to an awesome year with your child! I have just a few things as we begin the year: 1. Please feel free to send a water bottle with your child. Our classroom is hot, and it takes a LONG time to get 30 bodies through the drinking fountain line. 2. A few of you have talked to me about volunteering already, if you have not and are interested please send me a quick email. 3. Picture day is Tuesday, August 20th. Please use the order form that was in your packet on Back to School Night. 4. Scholastic orders are due on Friday, August 23rd.
